Cereals Crop

A Cereal Crop is any cultivated crop that is grown for the eating. Cereal crops are interchangeably called grain crops. They are also classified as grains such as:-

1. Rice:- Rice is a Kharif Crop, which is Grown in Monsoons ( June To July ) & Harvested in September to October.

2. Wheat:- wheat is a Rabi crop which  is Grown in October to December& Harvested in March To April. 

  • Wheat is the second most important cereal crop.
  • In the north and northwestern part of the country, it is the main food crop. A cool growing season and bright sunshine are required for this rabi crop at the time of ripening.
  • Rajasthan, Punjab, Bihar, Haryana, etc, are some of the major wheat-producing states in India. Alfalfa is a herb. People use the leaves, sprouts, and seeds to make medicine.
  • In many countries around the world, it is cultivated as an important forage crop. Apart from this, it is also used for grazing, hay, and silage, as well as green manure, and cover crop.
  • 3. Maize:- Its a Kharif Crop which is used as both Food & fodder . 

  • Maize is a Kharif crop that is used both as food and fodder. It requires moderate temperature, rainfall, lots of sunshine, and old alluvial soil to grow well. Maize is grown in some states, like in Bihar, during the rabi season also. Telangana, Bihar, Karnataka, etc. are some of the major maize-producing states.
